Mr. Hamid Arabzadeh has been the Chairman and CEO of RANOVUS (Ottawa Canada, Nuremberg Germany, Mountain View USA) since its inception in 2012. Ranovus is setting a new industry benchmark for next generation multi terabit Quantum Photonic networks for Data Center and 5G Wireless connectivity using its disruptive innovation in Quantum Dot Multi-Wavelength Laser combined with advanced digital and photonics integrated circuit technologies.
Prior to RANOVUS, Mr. Arabzadeh was the Chairman and CEO of CoreOptics (Nuremberg Germany, San Jose USA), a leading provider of 10/40/100Gbps optical subsystems for high-capacity networking applications, for 7 years before being acquired by Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) in 2010.
Formerly, Mr. Arabzadeh held senior management positions at Nortel Networks International Optical Networking division in Mexico, Brazil, and UK from 1995 to 2002. Mr. Arabzadeh’s last role at Nortel was VP & GM of Metro Optical business unit with business responsibilities for SDH (OM4000), DWDM (Cambrian Acquisition OM5000) and Multiservice OM6500 (Viking).
Prior to joining Nortel, Mr. Arabzadeh was the President of UNICAD information systems (Montreal Canada) from 1988 to1995. UNICAD developed custom CAD/CAM software for telecommunication, manufacturing, mining and aerospace industry.
Mr. Arabzadeh is the co-Founder of Spoke Technologies, a Toronto based fund which co-founds and co-funds startups in Security (Identos: Mobile and IoT Data Encryption), Healthcare (Agent+: Secure Mobile Billing for Doctors), Cloud (Ranovus: Data Center Connectivity) and Consumer (Impressed: Millennial lifestyle photo prints). Spoke provides CXO, core R&D, seed financing and infrastructure for the startups it co-founds in Canada and Germany.
Mr. Arabzadeh holds a B.A.Sc. from University of Waterloo in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an MBA from McGill University.
